I had to think about where I saw the formula. I think it may have been from a artical by Roger Huntington.

It was used by him to calculate the as installed or net HP of cars tested. The advertised gross HP of cars could be with test headers, without water pump or any other power robbing accessories.


If my memory is correct it was hp at the flywheel with a manual trans. It would be close to rear wheel HP . The 605 HP is close to Fatrides 615 rear wheel HP.

I have never dynoed one of my engines so I don't have a comparison myself.

I have raced a 68 camaro, 454+.060, flat tappet, bone stock 990 heads, 3275 lbs with me,10.54 at 129.98mph

62 impala 454+.030, flat tappet, pocket ported 990s, 3685 with me, 10.94 at 123 mph.
