Auto to manual conversion

Paul, I am welding the clutch bracket soon. Do you have a photo or some spec's on where to place it on the frame? Can you put theses up on site? I have the '61, '62 manuals but can't find that info.

The assembly manual does not have dimensions from what I see.
I made a template for the proper location with multiple measurements to the front frame body mount.

What I don't like about the measurements on those assembly manual pages is that you need a set of string lines and levels to locate the clutch z bar bracket.
The measurements I have are off the front body mount in multiple locations off this mount.

I’ve always added the bracket with the engine in the car and lined it up by sight. Mount the z bar on the ball on the block, the fore and aft alignment is 90 degrees square to the block. The up and down measurement of the bracket is where the z bar is “level”. Do the alignment with the bolt in the slot in the bracket and the nut hand tight on the bolt.

Don is correct you should use the engine to line up the Z bar.
One problem I had was I did 2 cars that were frame off restorations without a motor installed until the
frame was finished.

I did exactly like Don said when I installed my bracket and it worked good here is a picture of it installed.

Weird thing, about the Z-Bar, and Cross Shaft. The longer, you look at them, after being mounted, the Crooked-er they look.

Show cars has a detailed parts diagram of where each year should weld and the degree at which the Z bar should mount, I bought mine from Paul, back a couple years a go, with good notes for location, but that info is accurate and out there, fairly easy to aquire.

hey everyone working on this mod and having some issue. I have a 454 installed in my 59 with a Muncie 4 speed bolted to it. I installed the ball stud in the block and it sits much further back than the previous picture. I can't get the z bar level and it hits the front body mount. Is there supposed to be a different hole further forward on the block to mount the stud? The motor looks to me to be installed correctly with proper clearance between firewall and block. Everything bolted up easily when installed. Thanks for any help. I'll try and post some pics tomorrow.
