When I was a kid we had some white chickens that spent a fair amount of their time chasing us kids whenever they saw us they were some hostel mean birds.

When I was 6 years old, I was flogged by one of our big roosters, who had long spurs. He was a mean SOB and scared my to death. My mother saw what was happening, grabbed dad's double-barrel, 12 gauge shotgun and blew that bastard away with both barrels. There was not enough of that bird left to id as a fowl, much less eat. Many years later, I asked her about that day. She replied: "I wanted to do that for a long time and that rooster really pissed me off so I put in 00 buckshot." She was fair, loving and firm; just don't piss her off!
