Keinath thought about 30 mystery engines were built but he was not sure, they were secretly cast at the Saginaw plant , since he worked there in his earlier years as a power train engineer, and he knew everyone and could come and go as he pleased.

Sounds like he had real good friends at the saginaw plant which help speed up the casting and buildup of the Mark II engines.

Maybe it's the angle of the picture but it doesn't look like a 409 pump to me......

I heard from Rusty about the picture yesterday. The bolt spacing on the mark 2 water pump is in between the big block and the "W" block, the mark 2 pump won't fit either. (So, recognizing one in your dream salvage yard trip won't be east at all Dave!) The heads do not have the compromised long and short port configuration of the later 65 traditional rat. These were production compromises. The pan in picture is a non-stock dry sump, it will be changed back to the Z11 style welded sump pan . The exhaust manifolds are the correct GM supplied pieces including the extensions.
