http://www.dol.gov/dol/budget/2014/PDF/CBJ-2014-V2-13.pdf

If your blood pressure is low, click on the link above and go to page 12, or if you go to the arrows at the top of the page that opens, go to page 16. It talks about performance structure and has 5 stragetic goals. This is part of the justification for the 2014 budget that the Mining Safety Health Admisistation is asking for. If this doesn't piss you off, you are either on their side or don't have a clue. MSHA is an arm of the Department of Labor. Not to make any of you union guys mad out there, but the union operated MSHA should absolutely not be pushing this kind of crap. My employees are well paid, have good benefits, good working conditions, and a safe place to do their jobs.

It is bad enough for MSHA to inspect my operation at least 14 times a year and fine us for their perceived nit picking safety violations, but then read things such as this bullcrap. Evidently i am supposed to run my business the way the Government does and be trillions of dollars in debt. Only a fool would start a business today, and the blame goes back much further than the present administration in Washington.

IT'S OVER FOR THIS COUNTRY.

MSHA is in charge of mining safety. They will be the folks that cause the coal mines to close because of all the rules and regulations. Just read page 12 on their report where it says MSHA 12 at the bottom. It says "performance structure." It has 5 stragetic goals. These are items on their agenda that they want to force upon business' in the future. Sickening. I tried to copy/paste the page, but couldn't do it from a pdf file.

Oh yeah, I see now. I was on the wrong page and my eyes were glazing over. :rolleyes
It looks like the MSHA is trying to expand their mandate. What's this got to do with "mine safety and health"
It doesn't look like they can force this on anybody,,, YET,,, but if you're applying for a permit, or renewing a permit, they may look at how well you're complying with page 12 :deal
If they don't "feel" you're on board with page 12, well,,, good luck trying to get a permit.

Exactly.......it has nothing to do with mine safety and health.........it is all about government control and more union.

Also, this has nothing to do with applying for or renewing a permit, it has to do with day to day operations. How would you like someone coming into your shop and pile this garbage on you?? I'm fed up.

BTW...looking foreward to seeing the Walla block come to life for you guys.:bow

Making it even harder for the working man to succeed in this day and age. It appears you have done quite well WITHOUT any extra regulations in the way. You should be rewarded, not punished. Good luck Dave.

It's not that i have 14 different operations. MSHA splits an operation into a pie so they can inspect you more, justifying their existence. How would you like someone coming into your shop and fining you because the tool rest on your bench grinder is 1/8 of an inch too far away from the grinding wheel? How would you like to be fined because there were cobwebs and some dust in a port a johnny? How about someone coming in and telling you that you need a better index in your MSDS book? One dick comes in a says to do some paperwork a certain way, and the next dick fines you for doing it that way. Socialist bastards. See, now you did it................:bang

How's things coming after the fire at the shop?

I'm glad I am a small business. We usually fly under the radar. That being said, I like you make sure we are safe in the shop. Tools and equipment are serviced, inspected, repaired and replaced often. Responsible business owners do not need to be told how to work safe, or be safe. On the fire damage, the shop just had the furnace put in. All drywall and paint is done. Just waiting for my tire display to be installed. Should be concluded next week. I had an insurance inspector tell me I needed exit signs above my outside doors in case of a power outage. I have auxilary powered lights above the doors to light the way in case of an outage. He told me that wouldn't be enough. I told him I am not changing it as it meets code requirements. Discussion over with him.:bat

Or about the rain tax in Maryland
Robert

Heard that on the news a week or two ago. How in the !@#^$%*&%$ can they think that they can do that??? :dunnoThat is about the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. :eek I would like to hear the full story on their reasoning. That could create a mass exodus to New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern California.

Cecil you are correct. I have been in meetings with him where our attorney has read the annotated code and he still committed to a ridiculous scheme. He has a new policy coming which may be worse than the rain tax on impervious surfaces called AFG or accounting for growth. One of our members has estimated that to cut out a at arms length sale a one acre lot from a large parcel will cause $30,000 in fees and studies before digging the home's footers. I could write a book on him! I am ready for Coral Gables Florida!

Lonnie yes he has implemented it in almost half of the counties. Not ours yet but I suspect next year. This is in addition to a gas tax indexed to an economic factor so that the rate will always grow as the economy causes CPI indexing.
