How long have you owned your Chevy?

Well my first Chevy and first car as well doesn't apply here but I'm sure Bob can appreciate as it was a '66 Chevelle that I had picked up for $500 in 1986 just before entering high school - love that car, still have it too! The following summer my cousin purchased a custom '59 ElCamino that was built in 1970 (red, flames, just beautiful!). I got the bug then. In 1988 I found a 348 in an rotting '58 Impala in an old muddy, tree filled wrecking yard $50. (Thought about putting it in the Chevelle for a while:brow )A week later I had found a '60 ElCamino resting in a field that had once held a 409 but was stolen out of it many years before I got it. It was mine for only $35 - yes $35. Now I was obsessed. In 1989 found a '59 ElCamino with 43K original miles for $800 and drove that for a few years. Over time I have had a few others but still have all the above plus many extra parts and pieces. Back to the original question, here is a list of the good stuff:

1966 Chevelle 327 - 1986*:bow
1960 ElCamino 409 - 1988*
1959 ElCamino 283 - 1989*
1964 Impala 327 - 1991
1950 Studebaker - 1992:dunno
1962 Impala 348 - 1994
1951 Henry J - 1995:bang
1959 Impala 348 - 1997
1959 ElCamino - 1997*
1956 Chev 283 - 2000*

* Still have today!:clap

I purchased my current 63 on June 11, 2002. It was in Lenox, IA, the very same small town where it was bought new. The Wilson family bought it from Miller Chevrolet in Lenox in about May of 1963. They drove it regularly and their daughter eventually took it to college! In 1973, their neighbor Dave Sweeney bought it and dove it for a few years until selling it to his brother Dan in about 1976. Dan had the car repainted and used it as his high school transportation and even had his senior pictures taken with the car in 1977. Dan died several years before I bought the car, from his widow Jayne. He loved the car very much and they even played "409 " at his funeral. He wanted to fix up the car again but never got the chance. I keep in contact with Jayne and I will someday return to Lenox with the car when it is restored.

I've done lots of work since buying the car and have put over 17,000 miles in it in the 5 years. I still have more work to do but am very proud to own such a special vehicle.

65 Impala Convertible - 1986 3 1/2 years later it's an SS
59 El Camino - 1993
61 Biscayne - 1998
95 Impala SS - 1999
65 Biscayne - 2001

Some others I liked
76 Monte Carlo, 60 Ranchero, 64 Corvar, 87 RS Z24, 78 Grand Prix, 89 IROC 5.7, 67 Galaxie

I bought my 65 Impala Wagon in 1972. With much help from a friend, we put in a 327, 250 hp, Power glide and 3300 stall conv, 4.88 rear and drove it to the NHRA Nationals in Indy. The speedo didn't work and we kept the tach at 4000 from Pgh to Indy. We won 1st round of class and lost in the trophy run. Capped up our lakers and drove it home. We put a 283/220 in 1974 and set the NHRA record at Atco Dragway. In 1988, we put in a 4-speed and proceeded to break an axle,
ring and pinion and a drive shaft. Updating what broke, we ended up with a spool & axles and a Jerico 4-speed. We have had a lot of fun racing the Heavy Heavy Chevy (4350 Lbs in T/S) setting 6 NHRA records, 8 NHRA Wally's and winning an NHRA Divisional meet plus one runner-up. I still have the wagon and plan on racing it in 2008. The $500 I paid for a 7 year old Impala was a good investment.

how long have i owned my chevy? ibought my 58 chevy new in 1958. poison ivy:) :) :) :) :brow

That's bitchin.... I've owned 7 64 biscaynes over the past 22 years. The car I currently own I bought as a basket case in 2003. The one that I cherish the most though is probably the first one that I owned. I spent the entire summer of 1984 mowing an old ladys yard, who happen to be the original owner. Nothing special, 6 cylinder three speed, but she ended up giving me the car on top of paying me to mow her yard.......jackpot!:deal

How long have I owned my car

I bought my 1962 Biscayne in 1971 for $600 from a guy that claimed to be the original owner. He said that it was an original 409/409 car bought from a Chevy dealer in Oak Park, Illinois. I also bought a 1964 Biscayne station wagen 340 hp 409 4 speed posi rear end for the price of the tow. A young kid had it and it broke down on the highway near my shop. The kid walked down to a gas station to have it towed. The owner of the station knew I had a 409 and thought I'd be interested in it. The kid had no money so I got the car for the tow, that was in 1976. Unfortunatly the car was rusted beyond repair and I used it for parts. In 2002 we bought an early rear engine dragster chassis and put a 1964 409 in it, that we have been bracket racing since.

I got my Impala back in 2000 or so for what I would say is free !!!

YEP,,,, Bought a house that came with two tons of garbage, six cars and a mess of other odd goodies !!:brow

I say free because I bought the house as a package deal with all the junk, garbage and cars from the County Conservator for a friends brother.
I gave a low ball bid and they excepted it.:D

I paid way less then what just the property was worth.
Cars included that are worth mentioning are:
`62 Impala SS 409/425
`56 F**d F-100 (tons of chrome goodies)
`60 Singer Gizzelle convert (stolen shortly after)
`65 Lincoln Coupe (scraped)
two junkers (One sold, one scraped)
