Main bearing cap fasteners

A stock-ish 409 rebuild, would you use ARP bolts or stud kit? I'm missing a main bolt and need new, so...
Depending upon what CP Carillo says about my pistons may change my mind about a longer rod combo or stay with the stock rod/piston combo.

If you change to studs you will need to do a touch up line bore/hone. Sometimes the under head shoulder on an ARP is a smaller diameter than a stock bolt so they do not locate the caps quite as good as stock bolets.

Bolts the same as a 2 bolt BBC? I know the studded ones for windage trays are.

I think they may be a couple of threads shorter that a BBC? Not sure now, I know that some Chrysler ones work also.

oil pump | 348 and 409 Engines

I am guessing that there is no gasket where the oil pump mounts????? I am installing a new high volume pump and I,m guessing that I need a longer bolt????? Other that that, I have had no problems assembling my engine. I mostly have the long block completed. I will probably have the engine...

Oil pump drive issue!!!! | 348 and 409 Engines

Hey guyz, been a while since I've been on. Buttoning the motor up (I'll post pics soon), and ran into an odd problem: the oil pump binds when I tighten the stud nut. Won't turn even with a big screwdriver and a running start. Bought the new Elgin/Melling shaft off ebay, using an M55HV. Normal...
