I need some help , tested my car this past weekend , tried to only foot brake on the launch, the brakes would not hold and it pushed past the lights , I feel I need a two step to resolve the problem , I was able to mount a switch on the brake pedal as suggested on this forum and wire to a MSD two step box , now is the problem it has to plug into a 6AL or 7 series type electronic box , as per NHRA Tech inspector with a rule no electronics of any type, it would not be allowed . So if someone could tell me how to wire it or who may sell a acceptable box it would be gravely appreciated

The method I have adopted with the foot brake is when staging I always start the foot brake and stall well before I pull into the lights. I used to light the staging lights and then try and stall, almost always pushed through or close to it, deep stage and then had to let off so I wouldn't push through. Watch this, you can see me jacking it up well before staging.

As Ray said plus on the track your tires will hold better than on the street.
I believe you can use the MSD box but not a 2 step

I think we need to discuss and change that ruling. JMO. Last year tech just did a general inspection and checked for a fuel cell.

At what rpm are you trying to launch.how much convertor, how much cam, have you got? In a "no electronics "class, what it sounds like will still be illegal. If your carb is set up properly, there's no reason that you shouldn't be able to leave from an idle.I've done it for years successfully. As to the 2 step thing, check the rules carefully because a 2 step is sometimes legal in a stick car,but not on a car with an automatic. As to Scott and Lonnie's 62,run through the mufflers, run against someone with open exhaust, stage last, and engauge the 2 step after the other car goes up on the convertor. They can't bitch about a 2 step if they can't hear it. :crazy

I thank everyone for their input and help, in the past normal stage RPM is about 3500 , from off the line at idle my convertor flashes to 4600 RPM, mild hyd. flat tappet cam, no carb Enderle injector, taking in all info sort out, and will test again soon Thanks............Paul & Caroline
