If I remember correctly the Steering Box is a Corvette Quick Steer? That's what sticks in my mind.Just noticed the rag joint on the steering shaft, I wonder what he was up to. Looks like a stock box on the stock mount but I dunno for sure.
I don't know where he bought it other than it was in Atlanta and it was used. He traded his 47 Chevy in on it. Yeah, I love the radiused quarters too. When I was younger I thought all 55's had them, I was probably in my 20's before I realized they weren't. All my Dad's buddies had Chevy Hotrods and were modded so I didn't know any better.Yes your assumption is correct on the casting date.
That 55 is so bitchin!!! Black 150 with reversed black steels, pie crusts, W engine and four gear, does not get any cooler! The original Falfa 55. That's impressive he/you've had it since 1959! Wonder where he bought it, used car lot? Rear is probably an Eaton 1/2 ton chevy pickup, 55-62 I think, or I guess it could be a dana 44 out of a GMC.
I like the radius on the quarters, leave em alone! Then you can actually get tires on and off.
I still have landing lights for my brights. Yoi can feel the heat they give off.Oh yeah, there are Diff. Temp Guages, Trans. Temp, Volts, Amps, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp... The lights are old Aircraft Landing Lights, I remember as a Kid when he would turn them on and it would become daylight for a mile down the road... I would guess they are probably illegal today...
Exactly! What a great starting point for whatever you decide to do with it.How lucky you are to still have these treasures.
I might still find some, still going through stuff, if I find any I'll post themAny pictures of your dad and his buddy's.?
I'm planning on it, going to modernize some of the safety stuff... Front Disk Brakes, Maybe Tublar A arms and the like...That's great! Haha they look good stock don't get me wrong but, your dad made a nice clean cut on em, might as well leave it as is! Are you returning this car to it's mid 60's appearance? Hope so!
