Looking for a good used complete 4 speed steering column without any cut wires just something I can drop in and go, don't need the wheel. If nobody here has one what can I expect to pay for one outside of here incase I find one? Thanks in advance

Do what Dean's 61 did above. He left out pinning the shift collar with a roll pin but once you do that the converted column shift column is just like the floor shift one. I've never done it with Chevy columns but have with early 60s Pontiacs.

I have a 1961-62 column with the correct upper parts your looking for. It's not a true 4 speed column. But like most have said
you can make this work. I did the mods on mine before I found this column. Pictures are from my 1962 BelAir 2 dr post. As you can
see from firewall side or interior it's hard to tell. If your looking to make a 100% car I can see why you would need the correct column.
$200 +shipping. I'm in Socal. Let me know if interested. email: rainonej@ix.netcom.com1962 4 speed column parts.jpg1962 Column firewall.jpg1962 Column interior.jpg

A question to all above, did you remove the 3 speed or powerglide shift tube from your conversion
with the correct 4 speed collar that replaces the 3 speed or powerglide collar
( powerglide column conversion also requires changing the turn signal collar from a 3 speed column)

I know when my friend restored and painted my 4 speed columns in correct flat colored paint, he
removed the shift tube to avoid cutting the arms of at the bottom of the column.

I took out anything that wasn't needed. I was refurbishing anyway. And I don't recall having an issue with turn signal collar as I also
rebuilt it and put in a new turn signal switch.

The attached file is from a 1961 Chevy shop manual. It states that a 4 speed column has no inner tube or linkage. And knowing GM bean
counters there was only one outer tube to house the automatic and 3 speed linkage. A 4 speed column was empty. The only difference was
the shift collar. 4 speed columns got a Group 4.010 part #3795137 housing. And I'm taking a wild guess here. Pontiac may have used the same
parts since they did share bodies. Anyone who has an old GM parts book may be able to identify the part numbers.
