Widest tire and wheel on rear of 62 Belair.

One thing I forgot to mention. I installed an adjustable panhard bar to center the rearend housing prior to taking measurements to determine wheel backspace and tire clearances. An adjustable bar is probably a must-have to fit the widest tire/wheel combo.

Widest tire and wheel on rear of 62 Belair.

I have a '62 Biscayne with 15x10 Wheel Vintiques steel wheels with 5 1/2 backspacing. Tire is a MT ET Street 28x11.50-15. Need to deflate the tires a bit and have the rear end at full drop to install but they fit with adequate clearance. The car is still under construction so there could still...

    3-Speed Column to 4-Speed Column

Thanks for the great replies. I am concerned about appearance only, the car was a 6-cylinder, three-speed car that is now a 4-speed. Looking at the factory manual, my impression was that it could be disassembled to remove the 3-speed parts but wanted to be sure.

    3-Speed Column to 4-Speed Column

I have a 1962 Biscayne with a three-speed manual shift steering column. I would like to convert the column to look like a 4-speed column. I am sure that this has been done by someone before and I am interested to know if there are any lessons learned that can be passed on to avoid problems...

    Fuel tank sending unit

I got a sending unit with 1/2 line and 8AN feed and return from RobbMC. There is not one advertised for below 1965 on the website; I sent him a sending unit for a '62 and he converted it. https://www.robbmcperformance.com/products.html

    Low mount alternator

I used the Alan Grove mounts but had to modify them to fit the alternator as well as fabricate a new spacer. Used an East Coast Auto Electric one wire mini alternator (Summit part number ECA-2003).

    Headlight Operation

Thanks for the responses. I was just checking to make sure. The low beams on my car shut off when you switch to high beams so it looks like I have a wiring problem.

    Headlight Operation

On a 1962 Biscayne, do all four headlights operate under high beam operation? Or do the low beams shut off during high beam operation?

    coil bracket?

Thanks, skipxt4. You are right, it should not be this hard.

    coil bracket?

Seems like I have a similar issue and found this post after a search. I have an MSD distributor and Blaster coil. Using an MSD coil bracket mounted on an Edelbrock manifold results in interference between the coil and distributor so I am interested to know if the original design coil bracket...

Allan Grove Low Mount Alternator Bracket

sp6t1348, thanks for the great photos and comments (nice looking engine, by the way). The alternator that I am using appears to be a bit larger than the one you are using. It is larger than a true mini alternator but smaller than a full size. Guess I will have to do some engineering work to get...

Allan Grove Low Mount Alternator Bracket

I am attempting to use the Alan Grove low mount alternator bracket with an East Coast Auto Electric Super Mini alternator on a 1962 Biscayne. There are clearance issues with the rag joint and pitman arm. Anyone have an example where they have successfully used this mounting system with any...

    Tips for Engine Installation

Getting ready to drop a 409 and transmission into a '62 Biscayne for the first time. I am going to use an engine tilter and I am curious as to how others have attached the chains at the rear of the engine. It does not seem as if there will be enough room between the cylinder head and the...

    Question for Lakewood bellhousing users.

I assume that the cast iron nose only applies to stock starters? I will be using an aftermarket mini-starter.
