I have seen the front lower valance panels painted body color and some chromed, and from what I understand they came from the factory with some shade of silver or light gray (I think). Can someone set me straight on this? If silver/gray and is there a known paint code to use that would be a...
Thanks Jon. I don't know how I missed that on the shift mechanism. Perfect.
THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE. This is another great response with help from this site. Its been a while for me being on here, but my move to PA is complete and I'm back up and running again. After this customer car, I'll...
Thanks everyone for the help. I saw that Hurst was selling shifters for this car new, but they didn't have one listed for a car with a console. After looking at the pics I can see that it would have to be straight, at least for a while, in order to clear the console. Classic industries...
I'm working on a customer's '65 Impala (Factory 396, floor shift automatic with console) and he has me converting it to a 4spd car. He has provided the correct 4spd console, but we still need a shifter. Can anyone tell me exactly how to identify the correct shifter for use with a console...
Thanks
Thanks guys. I'm not in the middle of a new build at the moment, but it was one of those things that I needed information on to close the gap on rocker selection, etc. All good info.
Thanks again,

First of all, I originally posted this as a stupid question about ROLLER rockers. What I meant to post was "Stupid question about higher ratio rockers". I have never went beyond stock ratios with roller rockers, and I know I must be missing out. Obviously by going with something with a higher...
60 chevy VIN on frame
The entire VIN was in three locations on my dad's 60 impala convertible, all on the top of the driver side frame rail:
Location 1: Above the steering box
Location 2: Under the drivers seat above the area where the stock muffler would be located
Location 3: Under the...
blasting
I can't help you with the powder coat issue other than reminding you that Eastwood has a tech line for things like this.
As for the low output from your blasting cabinet compared to your other setup, if you are using the same blasting media and your pressure is the same, make sure...
Do a search for Fatrodder's. They sell front disc brake setups for all kinds of cars, and I have one of their slotted and cross-drilled (+zinc plated) setups on my dad's 60 Impala. The are truely bolt-on, and you use your existing spindles.

I sure did! He made me hold onto things for safe keeping, but he took home one coffee cup to show everyone. On my next visit I will be taking a couple more back so that he can "properly enjoy" some warm java. Now that the cat is out of the bag the decals will be prominently displayed...
Thanks everyone
Thanks everyone. My dad (and mom) traveled back home on Monday and I already can't wait to get back on the car this fall (hopefully).
Ronnie (and others) - his smiles lasted all day and all weekend. It was great.
Impalamike - Your 60 impala looks great. It looks like a...
Well guys, I finally revealed the 1960 Chevy Impala to my dad this past weekend. I have building it for him for going on two years this June, and he was in shock. :D "Wow" was the operative word all day. I showed him the car, and all of the before/after photos as the car was being restored...
OUCH! Is there ANY concern about the crank being thrown around? My "teachers" have always said to store a crank standing up when storing it for long periods, or leave it inside the block on the bearings. If it was dropped or thrown into the fedex truck could it have been bent?
Doc
Thanks everyone. I post here to share and also for the boost of confidence that I get from hearing from you guys. Its great to be a part of the group, and to help some people out once in a while with some technical suggestions or comments of my own. I have to say that I am definitly proud of...
