    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

And this has ‘happened’. Motor back together, with the Isky cam. The engine builder Dave Gibbons of ‘The Carb Fellas’ who is also a carb guru, checked the 2g’s, and managed to make a linkage out of the bits I had from various linkages that didn’t really work. Then Neil Melliard who painted the...

    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

I don’t want to cut a big chunk out of the chassis without a jig to hold it straight when it’s welded back in, so I made a ‘patch panel’fir the side of the rail with all the holes in, then made a new body mount from 3mm box as it had the right kind of radius, and I had nothing to bend 3mm steel...

    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

So, the rear of the chassis has now all been separated, blasted, epoxied, and reassembled with rivets as per factory. Closer inspection of the rear body mount (poking with a screwdriver) revealed more rust, ( all the white crosses)

Mechanical Tri power linkage - recomendations

I'm looking for a progressive mechanical linkage for my tri power. I was going to go with one from Vintage Speed, but to say that he doesnt have a good reputation is an understatement. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-speed.17899/ I have bought a linkage from show cars, but...

    40 deluxe sedan with 348 - project

Another overdue update. I decided to split the body of the chassis, and took the chassis to work to repair some rust in the back of the chassis. Mainly to pull Out the inner frame structure, blast and epoxy prime it all before reassembling it, you couldn’t even see the rust through until it was...

    409 heads on a 348

Is there an advantage in running later small port heads, apart from possible cooling benefits?

Thanks all, so ideally keep the pipe? Is there a tidy way of fitting it to the manifold, or is that huge ply in adapter the only way?

    409 heads on a 348

Interesting info, I wasn't aware that any other head fitted a late 58. Will 817's make much difference? I'm runnng tri power, I looked at ally heads, but they dont fit, if memory serves me thats because the inlets dont match up?

waterpump/bypass hose, can i remove it? Tri power

Ive had a search and i found a thread saying that I can remove the hose, it just helps the engine warm up before the stat opens, but i'm sure ive also read you can't My engine is a 348 with tripower, at the moment, the car will have no heating. The pump is a new ally bodied one. Thanks

    348 vs. 327; or maybe a 409

Im 'slowly' putting a 348 in my 40, mainly because Ive wanted one since I was a kid building model kits, they look great, and I couldnt afford a 409, either to buy or run. Realistically, a 350 would have been a way better choice for performance bang for buck. If you go 348 make sure you get a...
