There's no way around it. You MUST use a bearing or bushing on any roller cam. It will walk both ways.If you use the search engine there’s quite a bit of information or conversations on this problem
Total seal made a ring squaring tool, for those of us without an old piston to use. Pricey but easy. I bought 2.Modified an old piston so that I could get the rings down in the bore squarely to file fit each one to the bore that it will be in
The wear would have happened even without the plate. Maybe it sped up the process.Then after I had the end play that I wanted I put the water pump on and all of my end play disappeared. So apparently the plate that I had originally installed on the back of my water pump to keep my timing cover from flexing outward was too thick and therefore putting additional pressure on my cam button thus causing the block damage that I found
So I machined.030 off of the plate and now I should be good to go
Really nice work.My oil pump pick up was an inch too short for my modified pan so I had a buddy of mine who is an excellent welder and fabricator make me one out of stainless steel and I think that he did an awesome job
