The Mustard car runs in the 8s, which would be around the 150 mph or faster.
It would be interesting to ask him if it lifts much on the rear.

The 59's didn't do too bad at high speed, Jr. Johnson won the 1960 Daytona 500 in a 59 Chevrolet.....drafting off the back of a Pontiac!!!

I didn't know cops had km/hr speedos back then:dunno
A friend of mine has a '59 or '60 Chevy speedo that is km/hr. It registers to 180 if I remember correctly. He is a Mopar guy, but is holding on to the thing to put in a rat rod.

I have always thought it would be neat to find one for a '61-62.

My understanding was not that they would lift at highway speed in normal conditions but more the lift they got from a passing truck with the wind blast under the wing gave them a lift and push sideways????

Just what i have heard and seemed plausible

I had a 59 vert, 280 hp, for a few years when I was 18-20. I don't remember any stability problems at high speed. And at that age, I tried it out.;)

Back in the day, I would get a little dance going thru the traps with my '60, but I just attributed that to the air pressure in the slicks. :dunno
