Hey, not a bad looking group! By the way, I just sent a note to Steve Gibbs, Director of the NHRA Hod Rod Reunion and Fred Bear, who initiated our acceptance into the Bowling Green event, and my partner in crime Martin Key. Attached below for your information.

Dear Steve and Fred:

I just want to take a little time to thank you for a great experience that you let our 409 group participate in. Everyone involved had an enjoyable time and Martin and I look forward to bringing together an even bigger and better 348-409 Eliminator class next year. We're already working on getting some special cars and our Grand Marshall to participate in the 2017 event.

I understand why you would pick Beech Bend Raceway Park for your Hot Rod Reunion. It's in a class of its own. Thanks again ... Fred, your support was above and beyond!

Sincerely,
Al Loy

I would like all of our members who will be at the 348/409 event in Bowling Green 2017 to know that Red Willams will be our Grand Marshall. This gentleman brings a lot of history and knowledge to our sport. He is a true drag racer and a legend in his own time and I'm very exicited that Red has accepted this honor.

We had a great time in Bowling Green this year, but was a little disappointed, that after hauling 0ur 409, 2432 miles, and running the "slowest" time in the 1/4 mile, 19.5 seconds, we never got a mention or a Comical Trophy for "Slowest 409 at Show" or longest trailered 409 car in the event. I was very happy with the way
the group of guys came together when a persons 409 had troubles or needed help. I did not get to stay for the awards after the races due to my friends attack of
"heat stroke", but I do think that humor and recognition, not only for the fastest car's, but for the participation and love of these 409's should be thought about, whether coming in 1st or last. :cheers

Stan, we definitely appreciate you coming, and especially pulling your car such a great distance, sorry for not giving trophies for longest pull or slowest car, that would be fun, and maybe something we can look into for the future. I'm sure the group will join me and say Thanks for the LONG HAUL, :clap:clap:clap...............................
NOW as for the slowest car ............well, that's ..............something ....................Hell I don't know how to congratulate ya for that one.....:teehee........:poke.........
..all kidding aside thanks for coming Stan...........:drinking it was a pleasure meeting you.

Thanks Martin for your response, it was the best time I've had in many years. You must be inline for an "award" yourself for all the long hrs and hard work you did to pull off that great event. :appl
It was great to be with the racer group, as they are so knowledgeable about 409's, I do like your idea of all 348-409 being in 1 area, would the spectators be able to see them in the race area?
Wish it wasn't so far away, I'd definitely come again to redeem myself on the track, and see the new friend I met their. :laugh2 stan
