Yep, from right here in good ol' Dayton, Ohio. Funny story now, didn't think it was at the time. Back in the 60's when I was racing my '60 Impala, I broke my four speed. Went to Ray Smith in Eaton, Ohio but he was out of them. Went to George and asked if he had any close ratio t- 10s. Yep, $225.00. I said Ray Smith sells them for $185.00. George says, has he got any?? I say nope. George says $225.00. End of story, I paid the $225.00. :laugh

Attended my first car show of the season. It was the now annual Vietnam "Welcome Home" Veterans Car Show. Some real neat cars and a few GASSER's. I'm not sure if the '55 qualifies for the gasser title, but one bitchen' sounding car!

Here's two cars from one of the local guys Dicki Sills. Dick has recently passed away but the cars live on. The Corvair has been sold and I understand has been rebuilt and is actively racing. The Bel Air is being updated by a friend and I'm not certain what will be done with the car. The Bel Air was an original 409/409 4 speed car.Was originallly planned on being a 409 gasser, but cost was too much for him to handle with the pricey engine parts back in 2004-5.Pictures are from Steeve Reese's Edge Of Speed Web Sight. didki sill bel air.jpg didki sills,1962 bel air 1.jpg dicki sills corvair.jpg

The Corvair, when Dick built it : He completely made the frame out of wood, test fitted it then remade the exact frame from steel. The guy was unbelievable,he did all this work while fighting diabetis and heart problems. The last part of the car work was done from a wheel chair and very, very limited standing. His health had really deteriated, the Corvair was only out about 10 times before he passed.
