You don't want to own it when it is out of warranty. Check the supplemental warrantee to see how much the deductible is for a repair. I presently own 2 2016 Ford Explorers, a Limited and a Sport. The both have had mechanical problems since new. I bought the 80K / 8 year warranty, and it was about $1700 for each car. The transmission is going on the Limited, and that car has about 30K on it. I have already had engine issues with the Sport at 4000 miles, and it was fixed, but they never gave me a straight answer as to what the problem was. Took them almost a week to figure it out. I seriously doubt that either one will make it to 80K in 8 years, without needing an engine or transmission, or both. I will never own a car that doesn't have a factory warranty! When I bought Mercedes, I would find a 2 year old used one, and they came with a 3 year unlimited warranty. When the warranty was up, I would keep driving it till it hit 100K, and then get another. I loved the Mercedes, but I hated the service department. That was the first time that a Service Manager ever said to me... "You don't want to own it out of warranty", and he was 100% correct. 2 weeks out of warranty the Air Conditioning compressor failed. When I brought it in for the problem, he told me that it was bad the last time it was in for routine service. At that time it was still in warranty. Mercedes wouldn't cover the repair. He was a snake, and that was the last Mercedes that I bought at that dealership. I mention this, because the warranty is only as good as the dealer that is going to service it. You don't want to own it out of warranty.. How many times do I need to say this????? Junk
