What big block Chevy do you have?

A Pat Musi built 454 with ProFlo 3 EFI on it. By the way those 65-66 961 casting 396 blocks can take a 454 crank with 3/8 rods without clearance issues. Just make sure you cut the oil groove in the rear cam journal.

That’s good to know about the 4 inch stroke crankshaft. I have two sets of cam bearings for that block that have the groove cut in the rear cam bearing, I also have a camshaft that was in this motor when I bought it. I tried researching the numbers on it and no one could tell me who the manufacturer was or any details. But I think it’s around 300 advertise duration at .050 haven’t tried to measure lift yet but I will dig it out and post the numbers to see if anybody recognizes it. It’s the only camshaft I’ve ever had that has the rear cam bearing groove built into the journal.
I called comp cam and ask him about the numbers and he he did not recognize them. I have googled it and come up with no definite answers here are the pictures, 300 H. Probably indicates a hydraulic flat tappet with 300 advertised duration. Probably a little thumper?

Tooth. I had the rear cam bearing with the groove in it and had no oil to the top of the engine. Had to have the journal cut anyway. Get the cut even if you don't think that you'll use it in the vintage block. Actual 396's needed it. 402's didn't.

Yes I am aware of that, it’s 1965 396 blocks had the groove in the rear journal 1966 and the newer did not. So my question would be what is the 454 for that Pat Musi built? What’s it going in, and what kind of horsepower, and what cylinder heads? Just curious:browWhat’s it going in, and what kind of horsepower, and what cylinder heads? Just curious and I posted some pictures of the cam in the previous post.

Was originally built for the blue Impala 63. I'm going 409 in that car and I'm not going to race it anymore. The 454 with probably end up in the blue caprice 1990 police package car. Red caprice replacement gone bad. It's got Edelbrock heads with Musi competition port job. Titanium retainers roller cam solid. Roller rockers. Port matched oval port intake custom drilled for the injectors. One thing is for sure it was expensive but probably cheaper than a 409.

Now that is what I call one hell of a grocery getter! Would like to see the look on Pats face when you show him the motor in that, any idea of horsepower? By the way I think I may have solved my mystery on the cam manufacture, it might be a crane cams H 300:dunno2I’m gonna call them tomorrow and ask them if they have an old listing for that H 300. And we will see:scratch while I’m loading the nova and everything else up to pick up James and go to The Hot Rod Reunion in MoKan!!!

Dyno stopped at 6000 rpm. 586. Cam goes to 7000. Think it was 584ftlbs. But would have to look for it to be sure. Out for justice hub caps set the car off. No drive train right now. HVAC removed. Gonna put driver's seat from the red caprice into it. 3.42, 8.5. Home made block off plate. Aluminum.

No not yet, been avoiding that! But there is a coupe that will be at McKan with a turbo charged Straight six that runs in the 8’s I’ll make sure he’s either way ahead of me in staging or way behind me. That thing ain’t right. And it sounds like nothing you’ve ever heard.:driver It may not be a big block Chevy but it sure runs like one or better. Here’s a peek I’ve seen him at Wednesday night testing tunes a couple of times. At Gateway in St. Louis.(((( ( Just tap the watch on YouTube)))))

You want to laugh. I had an S-10 once. LT1 4L60E. The last time I drove my 63 was 2 days before this slight fender bender. Think it was October 20, 2018. Picture of the pictures.

Not sure I can hit the LIKE button on that? I would say there is a distinct difference between fender bender and cut in half.:confused I assume all your body parts are where they are supposed to be?:doh :hide

Yeah. I climbed out of that. I mean someone had to get pictures. The cops were all pissed. Even gave me a ticket. I beat the case. Long short story. One more reason not to race the 63's. Race some other junkbox you could care less about. Also, driveshaft loops save cars. Funny thing is I wasn't actually racing anyone.
