Which engine color?

So, I got 2 cans of VHT paint. Chevy engine orange-red, and Chevy orange. What color? I have 2 348's that are still factory and the 1960 looks red and the 59 that I'm refreshing is orange. Is there one that Chevy used primarily?

Welp, the red orange will be the base followed by the orange. I hit the pan with orange and looks much better.

Thats what I usually do when I have both use the red/orange as a base and then the orange on top.The orange by itself doesn't seem to cover as well so you have to use more coats.

It's a .060 over 1957 312. Twin WCFB carbs Edelbrock 257 manifold. Really sweet runner.

I use POR brush on paint. Looks like glass when done and wipe’s everything off of it. It’s self leveling so it looks a little rough on the first coat but as soon as it dries, it’s amazing. I have seen guys put it in a gun and shoot it on the blocks looks good also

If I spray with a gun, I use 69 Camaro Hugger Orange.

I use plasti kote or duplicolor in the red/orange and it doesn’t look red like your oil pan.

My understanding is that Dupli-color #1607 Chevy Orange is correct. That is what we used here.....

Yep that’s the one I use. The regular Chevy orange just doesn’t look right to me. Can’t say if it’s correct or not for factory.

Just curious. Painting Tooth's new bullet. The 1620 looks pretty orangish, but what the heck it's just a race car!

Hey , 55Brodie, can you tell me where the engine numbers are stamped on the blocks of a 272, 292, and the 312 Ford engines. I have an engine that I was told, came out of a 1956 Crown Victoria. The numbers that are stamped on the front of both HEADS, are RC5-7159. I was also told that if there is a soft plug on the front of the heads, it is a 272 engine. How can you tell the correct engine you are looking at?? Help if you can. Thanks, Mike
