I just noticed the Block Code is the same as the Door Post Code...How could that be possible? I could not get to the Casting # on the Pass. Side of the Motor behind the Head... I couldn'd see a thing, the Car is about 4" from the Container Wall on the Pass. Side so it is impossible for me to stand there and look over. I tried laying across the Motor but with only about an Inch between the Cyl. Head and the Firewall (+50 years of dust and Oil) made it impossible. I'll have to wait untill I pull it out and put it on the Hauler before I can possibly see it...

Because someone just stamped that on the block. you still need the CASTING number from the block, with 690 heads it most likely is a 409 but you still have doubt until you see the casting number

That's hilarious your Dad stamped the 55 VIN in that block!! Lol lol you know how many soft brains will have a conniption over that? The guy clearly had a sense of humor, and was clearly an engineer. All the mounts for the pumps and switches, the adapter for the 2 barrel on the 64, very clean. Definitely not a hack.

That is my dream find 55. Such a cool car. The 64 ain't bad either I'm just enamored with that 55.

It looks like the Block and Heads were produced within a couple days of each other.
Block: K2561
Head: K2761

I wonder if he got it as a Crate Motor, I never heard where it came from. My Step-Father doesn't know either because they first met in 65 or so. The Old Photo shows the Block when he got it. Can't tell if it's got Paint on it or not.

I was curious where he got the '09, cuz it was darn near new when he dropped it in that car. I wonder if he put a cam in it or anything.

Surprised no one called this, the bare block in the trunk is just a small block, quite a bit of meat between the cyls, 283 maybe?? Thats some burly winch line too, he's probably just using all that for ballast! Lol
