It looks like the Block and Heads were produced within a couple days of each other.
Block: K2561
Head: K2761

I wonder if he got it as a Crate Motor, I never heard where it came from. My Step-Father doesn't know either because they first met in 65 or so. The Old Photo shows the Block when he got it. Can't tell if it's got Paint on it or not.

You took a pic of the date why not the casting number too? Engines that were assembled as a unit will usually have very close dates as in your example.

Also, looks like the stud bosses have been milled and tapped for screw in studs thats pretty cool. Bet it has a cam in it too!

I remember in the early 70's he and Lamar Walden were doing some custom Cam work on it. The first one spun a Bearing and he pulled it apart and they put another one in and I think it spun another one. That's why he decided to just restore the Car because he was going to have to pull the engine again. He stripped it down and Primed it and it's sat ever since 73 in the back of the Shop.

I was looking on the wrong Side of the Motor, I thought the Casting #'s were on the Pass. side of the Motor and I couldn't find it. When I get back to Atlanta in a few weeks I'll find it. I know where it is now.

I was curious where he got the '09, cuz it was darn near new when he dropped it in that car. I wonder if he put a cam in it or anything.

Surprised no one called this, the bare block in the trunk is just a small block, quite a bit of meat between the cyls, 283 maybe?? Thats some burly winch line too, he's probably just using all that for ballast! Lol
Ahhh, I just assumed it was the 09 motor, maybe that was the one he pulled out of it...

A question about the 64, Does anybody know how this Over Drive works? I haven't ridden in it since about 1980 and I remember my Dad using it but not the procedure.

Overdrive; With the handle pushed in,accelerate to 30-35m ph.Let off accelerator momentarily[do not declutch ]overdrive will ''kick in''.Overdrive will disengauge when at full throttle.Car will ''Free-wheel''when the over drive handle is pushed in.
