Let’s start at the beginning. Congradulations to Valerie and Jim McCombs! Valerie went to the finals in Thompson’s Friday night gambler’s race and took home the runner up MONEY!!!!

348/409 shootout - Truely a 348/409 Shootout this year!

This year the track wanted to run our event a little differently from the past. You will remember, in the past, they put our cars in Hot Rod 1(HR1) or Hot Rod 2(HR2) based on the car’s E.T. 10.99 and quicker were HR1 cars and 11.00 and up were HR2. This year they wanted to put all 348/409 powered cars in the same class. We were able to sort cars in the staging lanes by the dial in on the window so we were able to keep a 9 second from running a 15 second car until the final “King of Hill” race.

Round 1 –

First race – Brian Fugate drew the bye run and went through with an 11.57 at 115.67 mph.
Dave Mills wins against Jim MacKenzie with Dave running 9.94 at 133.67 mph to Jim’s 9.81 at 144.74 mph When Jim lit the red bulb.
Allen George out ran Me with a 10.55 at 124.40. Allen got to the end of the track and had no oil pressure so neither car returned to the competition.
Denny Ford Fouled against Jim Carniato who ran a 10.37 at 127.93 mph Denny’s 10.92 at 104.91.
Ray Lehberger beat out George Reynolds with a 10.36 at 130.14 to George’s 11.37 / 120.23 mph
Valerie McCombs won over Ray Barnhart when ray’s car shut off on the starting line. Valerieran a ran an 11.07 at 109.60 mph.
Bob Walker in his 65 409 recorded a 13.07 at 106.64 to win over Lou Terra when Lou recorded a red light running 11.51 at 121.10 mph.
Merle Whited ran a 12.80 at 81.97 to win over Brian Labombard when Brian broke out of his 12.69 index with a 12.48 at 108.43mph
Al Loy won with a 13.17at 106.89 mph when Marv Bookman broke out of his 13.09 index with a 12.50 at 106.52 mph. Someone has to post a picture of Marv’s car. This is a really cool car! (See the green car in Ian's post below this one)
Shan Daley fouled when running a 12.42 at 112.35 giving Mark Steel the win with a 15.72 at 91.38

Tom Truppo’s 348 powered GMC pickup won with14.51 at 92.17 mph over Joel Schneeweis’ 13.56 at 101.19 mph. Someone needs to post a picture of Tom's truck also!

Good morning after everyone... It was a great time had by most, for sure !!! The weather was almost too nice, hot and sunning, for the most part. The racing was great and the group theropy was even better. For those who participated the dinner was a big high note, of the weekend, good food and loss of "fish story" telling by all.

A couple of break down's which put a damper on the fun for some of the racer's, but I'll let then each tell their own story on that. :dunno:doh The race went off without a hitch from the weather and everything was completed by early Saturday afternoon.

I have LOTS of pictures and video, which I will try to get loaded up as soon as possible. It's hard to get anything done on these motel computers. :bang I'll get the lap top fired up and get some stuff loaded. For now just hitting the road again for more travels.
