The spiral drive screws will work but they were not what was originally used. As recent as 2 years ago the original rivets were si=till available from Chevy. I don't have the part no. handy but shoud be in the parts manual.

They had grooves that would bite into the aluminum intake.

I have a hundred or so of those. Not like original but will work. Make sure the holes aren't oversize....wouldn't be nice if they fell out.

So on the edlebrock 7240 gasket do the bead side face up or down on cylinder heads? Also what are those little metal rectangle pieces and where do they go thanks getting manifold vapor blasted will post pic,s when I get it back

You can install the block off plates in the center exhaust crossover port if you don't want heat under the carburetor.
I install the gaskets with the bead up.

Well just got manifold back from vapor clean have trimmed baffle and am going to re install on Sunday pic is of actual aluminum with a finish of stain resistance

Nice, you remove and clean the baffle?
They are good about getting crap on the top side that can drain back down on top of your lifer valley.

I use a small sharp chisel and gently work around the edge of the drive rivet, just take your time.

I always do.
The heat from the exhaust crossover will coke the oil above the baffle and over time builds up, this doesn't cause trouble until you disturb it, as in pulling the intake. At that point I always remove the baffle and clean it out.

If that manifold has been glass beaded, it is a must to remove the baffle to get the glass beads out. The baffle should be removed before any beading, but I don't know what was done.
