Have you tested the slider valve?
I would just make a rod to go from the hole in the bottom of the throttle lever to the front carb lever with a slip swivel and slide lock and be done with it. Leave the vacuum stuff for original appearance but use the manual progressive for driving.
Not the best quality pic, but you can get the idea.

Cecil,
That's very similar to what I have on there, it works well and I like how I can adjust when the secondaries open quickly. The thing I don't like is that the transition isn't smooth when you push the pedal against the stop. I was thinking the vaccum setup would be smoother????:dunno

The vacuum is smoother in the sense that you don't feel any resistance on your foot and they just instantly go wide open.
I always appreciated feeling the resistance before opening the outboard carbs as a reminder asking yourself "do you really want to double your fuel flow and hear the sound of the hood trying to be sucked into the carbs?".
The answer was usually, "of course".:dance

Thanks guys.... I'm really excited that I'm gonna have a fresh engine for if by spring. We booked our room for Great Bend... As of right now we plan on driving it there! Just a little over 1000 miles for us.

So I got a little news from my builder on my block.. turns out its .125 over not .060 over. Also said the pistons are too small for the hole... so if I wanna use this block I need to buy pistons which if I do that, might as well buy rods too.....decisions decisions..... :doh

If that block is indeed 0.125 over you had better have is sonic checked and I think you will be sleeving most every cylinder.

Dan, yes we will be sonic checking the block.... only after were sure it's safe would I buy custom pistons for it... probably going to end up using my NOS 962 block if things don't look good for this one:cry... although I was looking forward to having a big 348:doh

Yesterday I picked up the heavily violated FH block and dropped this one off instead. Probably should have used this one in the first place, I've only had it about 8 years. Check out the original cardboard insert in the oil filter housing. The crank is at the crank grinders, so things are slowly progressing.
