I bought this car a year ago and just started working on it today. One of the least rusty cars I've worked on. I'm taking the approach to not wait until its completed, but drive it as a work in progress. I'll start at the engine compartment and head back. I'll get the Mechanicals first so I can start driving it.
Right now, it will be a 348, 4-speed. It might get a 409 if I can find one, if not, I'll just put a 4" arm in a 348 and rock it.

Looking good. If you are in a hurry and have an engine ready to go in with transmission, I'd say black firewall. If you have some time then I'd rip that heater box off and clean up the firewall for paint. Don't forget to seam seal the firewall seams after you clean and scrape it down. Looks like some seam seal is already applied. :good Stroke that 348 and hold on!

I have 3- 348s ready to go. (All bone stock currently) but run. I pressure washed the car down and most of the seam sealer blew right off. The same as the under coating in the fender wells. This car is great, an untouched original. Still has a "F" paint stick marking under the cowl.
Tomorrow the radiator support and fenders come off.

This car was originally black firewall. I like the body color look myself. Planning this project I absolutely have to have a red interior. So, that leaves me with 3 color choices. White, black or red. White is bland. Leaned very heavily to black except I wanted a body color firewall. Even sitting out there the past 2 days I still considered a black firewall. I just wouldn't like it unless it was red.
I had my 6yr old helper today and we got some more stuff off.
Oh, and the 348...20230312_170212.jpg20230312_170223.jpg20230312_170357.jpg20230312_170421.jpg
