Dennis, I have to say you are such a gentleman.

With Wally driving the car, you getting out so his wife could ride back to the pits with him to enjoy the excitement of “THE SHAKER” is nothing but CLASS!!

This action gave Wally and his wife the ability to return to his glory days!

There was only one opportunity, one moment in time, and you recognized it and seized the moment.

What a CLASS ACT!

My hat is off to you and very proud that you exemplify the 348-409-Z-11 community!

Dave and Scott didn’t redlight . Scott lost a good race to Dave mills in the semis on a breakout with a 7.175 on a 7.18 dial with a .05 light to Dave’s .08 light. In the finals Dave brokeout giving the win to bob walker

Bryan, this is what drove me crazy racing, breaking out!!!!!

AT a major race I posted an 11:90 breakout with the car running low 12’s with the National Record a 12:06.

Just so happened the car was getting broken in after building a new engine, ran faster and faster each run, 12:05, 12 flat, 11:96, 11:90 and last race an 11:86!!!

Broke out, lost and was put on the trailer!

I’m still pissed and this was in 1969!!!

I hate the breakout routine, but I understand why.

Sorry about hijacking the thread, now back to the ROCKING CHAIR NATIONALS!

when I first arrived, I finally got to meet Phil Reed. he was walking with Karin Jackson as I was passing by to go thru tech, he urged her to get in my car and off we went. fortunately, I had introduced myself to her husband Dennis as I drooled over his car. at any rate, nice lady and I did my best to explain the goings on at a drag race. then we all parked in the "Nostalgia 32" area and were interviewed by the racemaster.

After 35 years of owning and racing a 409 car, I do not have one anymore. (huge mistake selling it) I can say it's been an honor to race with my friends over the past few decades. to have a 348 or 409 in the lane next to me is a pleasure. however, I owe an apology. in 2017 I was approached and invited to run my white 63 with the group. I questioned it and was told it was voted yes to ask me. I suppose I should have declined but the thought of being with such great folks and cars was too much to deny. later in the day as I was winning I had fears that I may take home a W trophy with a BBC. I asked one of the most respected racers "what should I do?" his reply was "win".....so luckily I did. I was invited again in 2018 and went but just stunk the place up by giving the stripe to a young man in a red 62 sedan after I treed him and feared I'd run under. then it rained out. for 2019 I inquired and was invited to participate so I showed up and as luck would have it began to go rounds. by now you know the outcome. few have made it known to me it's not a level playing field with a flat block in the mix and I agree. I'm going to miss it next year, but fair is fair. thanks, Bob

Spoken like the gentleman I have always known. Just my opinion that it's not a problem with you being there, as a matter of fact I enjoy having you there as an old friend. Running your car in the time trials heads up with 409 cars is not only enjoyed it would be encouraged. Racing in the finals for a 409 trophy is where the buck stops in my opinion. Others my take umbrage with my remarks and I'm ok with that. Anything less and it is not a 409 race anymore. I hope to see you at the track somewhere Bob.
