I use Mobil 1 15W50 in raced, but babied(no hi R's) 409's & have for probably 30 years. Yes, it does tend to find anywhere there are leak possibilities. Also use synthetic in rear. I think it precludes having to have extensive warm-up. BTW, raced my previous 409 for 15+ years w/o teardown on...

I just looked in my shed & the custom-built hitch I had on my 59 El Camino is still out there w/ very little surface rust. Took it off when car made into drag racer. 2 bolts each side bolt to frame rails & 1 bolt to rear. No pictures ATT, but could take one if ur interested. I'm in LeCaire...

Good so far. !2.50 range which is what I expected staying w/ 4:11, & shifting early. It if ever quits raining, maybe I'll actually get to run in competition. 3 NSS meets, 3 times I either didn't go or got rained out. Try again at NMCA in Joliet next week. We'll see on Earlville. God knows...

Don't know for sure I'm attnding...busy summer & World Series is following weekend. I may still attend, but at this point I'd say less than 50%.

BTW, have to wait & see about Earlville...I'm running Nostalgia SS w/ Charlie & the boys this year, & that's the week B4 Series.

Charlie K will tell you the same as me. Both of us ran 4 speedd in the ole days, but got tired of breaking. You can make a 4-gear work, but lots of $$$ for clutch & trans....think $3k+, I suspect. Of course I'm talking about quite a bit of drag racing. Auto just so much more forgiving. 400...
