Tell us Seth.

Smoke signals have been lit about 4 months ago searching for your lost ass. Glad to see you're alive and typing on the computer. Hopefully, life is treating you good.

I'm about to convert "OG" over to a CPP 500 steering box, searching for a manual center link. So go ahead and send me one Brian. It's time to eliminate the hulky 61 power assist ram and leaky power valve from existance! I see drilled and slotted 13" discs and 4 piston calipers with 2" dropped spindles in the near future as well! :beer

:scratchWhere you been? Good to hear from you.
I've been around, working a lately and hardly have time to log on. I've been working on OLD GOLD still, started stripping the underside and revitalizing it.

update please! nice work!
Just a little custom one.....

So, here I was brainstorming, never having backup lamps on the wagon became a concern for me recently. Not wanting to convert and lose my two tailights in the tailgate by using a NOS 1961 Station Wagon Chevrolet backup kit, I purchased an awesome NOS 1958 Chevrolet Station Wagon only kit for just over $100. These have chrome housings and real tempered glass lenses, super rare and were installed on the rear license panel on a 58 wagon, so I just used the idea on my 61 and it worked out badass!

i really like the unfinished paint style. has anyone painted a car to get that look?
We had a guy in the neighborhood that did a '52 Chevy pickup that way. The truck was all redone with a ZZ4 crate motor and a fuel cell under the bed, Crager mags and a new custom interior. The truck was a tan color and they used brown primer on a sponge to put rust and patina on the cab corners and lower fenders. They also buffed through the paint down to the primer on several areas like along the top of the drivers door by the window where a grubby arm would be resting. This truck had more attention than the Hemi Dodge parked next to it at one of our local cars shows. Leo

Here's some porn to satisfy your needs. I was at my storage facility Yesterday and snapped some pics of her with a couple new updates. I added some 1961 Nomad back window Stainless, on the top of the tailgate, and the inner frame stainless. Also, purchased a restored 1973 Texas Inspection Sticker that was original to the wagon when I got her, and added a couple vintage waterslide decals to give some more flair.

I think she looks great,Seth,:bowBut I still think it needs paint!:hide:laugh

Hi Don! I think if I were to refinish the entire car it would have to be the dash color that my good friend came up with. That color is soooooo dazzling and classic looking. Thank you for the compliments Don!

Here's the original Texas inspection sticker.

When I was a teen [2 or 3 moons ago],my dad had a 61 wagon, black, much the same as yours was when stock. It was the first car he ever bought with a/c.I've had a fondness for 61's ever since, although that 170 hp 282,with power-glide was a "stone'!

Was your father's 61 a Parkwood or a Nomad? I would really love to own a Tuxedo Black Nomad or Parkwood, Factory "45" 9 passenger with A/C and a 348 (305hp).
Looks good....:deal
Thanks Dan! I have someone seriously considering purchasing Old Gold who lives in Texas, hence the reason for all of the new photos. I've really had a lot of fun with her in the past two years. I'm thinking it might be time to build something new, should she fly the coup. This car will go down as my all time favorite builds, it was such a bad time in my life. First, losing my career to a blindside layoff and my fiance leaving me within a 12 hour period, then I having to sell my 1961 Impala Convertible that I just finished building, yet this Wagon totally kept me on track and level headed.
