Stamping numbers can be altered,casting numbers can't,as they are cast in at the foundry.

Yes it's possible,I just hope that in your case that it is really a 409.Remember,there are some very shady charactors in this world.

I don’t have any pics of the casting number. I have it but no pics. It’s engraved and doesn’t look altered I don’t think

Where is the block number itself exactly?

On the raised portion of the block,drivers side,where the bellhousing bolts up.Can be difficult to see without good lighting.Usually involves crawling over the fender to access.

Is there anyway you could send a pic of your casting number or of what it should look like? I didn’t think to snap a pic of the one on this car but I would recognize it when I see another

Why should I post the casting number? Just wondering

Post the casting number so others can make sure you have it right. As previously stated the stamped QB is probably legit but they can be restamped and many have been.

The 348 valve covers have the spark plug wire holders in the center of the valve cover. 409 wire holders are in front of the embossed Chevrolet logo.

The stamp is not 100%, you need the casting number to absolutely i.d. it as a 409 block

The heads need to be 690's since there's a 2x4 big port intake on it. So make certain they're big port heads also
