Yah buddy, and that's what we do. I WISH it had shiny paint, but the body is quite rough and will needs a LOT of ironing to ever wear nice paint proudly. After I, foolishly, sold the '62, I have considered dropping the 409 in the coupe, but all the pulleys and exhaust would need replaced as well and the idea kind of fizzles in the wind. I have 2 '67 C10's and it would look good in one of them...

I have seen a 409 in a 37 coupe without cutting the firewall….but servicing the belts would be murder.
I built a recessed firewall to allow for my hands to work, plus moving that weight back hopefully will help handling.

Yours will great too. This reminds me of conversation I had last week. We were talking about the prices of Harley's. I absolutely love that they have dropped so much as they have done before. The reason why is that it use to be about the bikes and riding them. Not high dollar builds, profiling, and trying to be a bad ass. Build it, drive it, and enjoy it.

I spent 3 years building a 67 instead of working on the 37……I got infatuated with it and went down the rabbit hole….don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the build but I put so much into it that I barely broke even (luckily I did)…..now a friend has it, it looks the same and he and his wife love it!
It is really a sweet ride……

Yes, building these cars is expensive. I don't want to know what I have in my '66, I wouldn't want to drive it.
Got a 4.56 12 bolt for it now and will be changing the intake and carb in the next couple weeks. Be taking it to Beech Bend in Bowling Green on July 17-18 for a private rental time drag racing with a the SCR group. Should be fun.

@Simps37 @Lost in the 60's We have something in common besides the 409. I also have a 1967 Chevelle (body 136) that is a complete rust bucket. My wife Janice & I got it rolling 2 weeks ago for the first time in 22 years. The plan tomorrow morning is to see if we can get it started for the first time in 22 years. I cut the trunk out last Saturday and then inspected the entire frame. The frame is good with only three small spots on the passenger rear with holes. I am unsure what I want to do with it now. I bought it to learn to weld, take panels off, and eventually part it out because I thought the frame was going to be rusty & beyond repair. But, now that I know the frame is good.......maybe I have two projects.....the 62 Bel Air and the 67 Chevelle.... decisions...

Ok….my home built exhaust is finally done….much quieter up front…..not do much out back (perfect!)…I will have a shop build my tips later to run out and turn down at the rear of the body.
Next…… fuel tank mount.

Question….how often do roller rockers need to be adjusted, if at all.
It has been a few years since this engine has ran with full exhaust…..I noticed light valve train noise that I don’t recall from before.
Ronnie used 1.7 Scorpion roller rockers.
Could very well be that it has always been there and I don’t remember.
Is not a noise that raises a flag, just an eyebrow.

And now the F-ing starter will not engage….had this issue happen before with a mini starter so went back to a stock Delco…..have had no issues…..
Now I let it idle awhile, makes perfect heat….shut it off and all the starter does is grind against the flex plate …..guess it needs another or less the 1 shim it has now……..not how I wanted to end my day.

One of my favorite toys ever is my 68 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 2 door hardtop-no post. It is contained in the NHRA Stock and Super Stock guide, and with the 250 horse 327, it fits either K or L Stock,or stock Automatic, With the 327 275 horse, it will run in I/SA. I've gone a little over .500 under the index with it, that was an 11.78 in I, 12.15 in K. There's faster cars in both classes, it's not a class winner, but it sure is a consistent reliable car. It's won at least three Irwindale Summit races, been runner up several times, and it's fun to drive. I don't know the production numbers but it's a fairly rare car.
